Suspected nurse impersonator cared for thousands of patients in Florida prior to arrest

Authorities in Florida have arrested a woman from Palm Coast who reportedly posed as a nurse without the necessary qualifications, providing care to a significant number of patients.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 29-year-old Fall Bardisa, who was apprehended at her home while dressed in medical scrubs. She has been accused of falsely presenting herself as a licensed nurse from June 2024 to January 2025, during which time she treated over 4,400 individuals.

Investigations revealed that Bardisa lacked a valid nursing license throughout that period. She was employed at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway starting in July 2023, but her contract was terminated in January 2025 due to concerns raised internally.

The arrest followed a comprehensive seven-month investigation by federal and state health authorities. Hospital representatives indicated that Bardisa misrepresented her identity by providing the license number of another nurse and using fabricated documents to bolster her claim of being a highly qualified nurse technician.

Bardisa had initially applied for her job under the title “Education First” Registered Nurses and alleged that she passed the required exams, using a license number that belonged to a nurse with a similar name but different last name.

Interestingly, Bardisa informed the hospital that she had recently changed her last name after getting married. However, when asked to supply her marriage certificate, she never did, according to investigators.

Despite the apparent failure to verify her identity, Bardisa was offered a promotion in January 2025, which raised suspicions among her colleagues and ultimately caught the attention of hospital administrators.

Further investigations showed that she had never submitted the required documents to verify her identity, leading AdventHealth to end her contract and alert the sheriff’s office, thus initiating a wider criminal inquiry.

This investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, involved interviews with hospital staff and the real nurses whose identities Bardisa allegedly misused. Remarkably, both women attended the same nursing school but did not know each other personally.

Bardisa now faces seven felony counts regarding the unauthorized practice of medicine and identity fraud. She is currently in custody at Sheriff Perry Hall’s detention facility with a bond set at $70,000.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley expressed his concern over the case, labeling it one of the most disturbing instances of medical fraud his office has encountered. He emphasized the potential danger posed to countless lives by Bardisa’s actions and praised the investigative efforts that led to her arrest.

Authorities are urging anyone who might have been affected by Bardisa’s actions to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office via email.
