Suspected Shooter of Charlie Kirk Not Working with Law Enforcement

Charlie Kirk Shooting Update

Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter who has faced criticism, has not worked with law enforcement, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox during a recent appearance. Cox stated, “He hasn’t confessed to the authorities. He mentioned he doesn’t cooperate, but everyone around him is working together, and I think that’s quite significant.”

Authorities took Robinson, 22, into custody on Friday, and formal charges are expected to be filed on Tuesday, as per Cox’s remarks.

In a segment on NBC’s Meet the Press, Cox discussed a social media cycle involving claims about Robinson’s political affiliations. He clarified, “We can confirm he comes from a conservative family, based on interviews, but his beliefs seem quite different from theirs.”

The governor provided more details about the suspect. Robinson was in a relationship with a roommate who is transitioning, and while that person was supportive, they were taken aback upon learning of the incident.

When asked about any correlation between the roommate’s transition and Robinson’s motives, Cox replied, “That’s what we are trying to figure out now.”

On a related note, Cox addressed reports that Robinson had engaged in a group chat on Discord where he jokingly referred to himself as a gunman. “What we understand is that those conversations occurred, but people didn’t think he was serious about it,” he added.

Describing Robinson, the governor called him a “very normal, very clever” young man who had a good GPA before dropping out of Utah State University after one semester. However, he noted that Robinson’s behavior seemed to shift, and he spent a lot of time playing games and engaging in online communities that could be described as dark.

Cox mentioned that more information would be disclosed on Tuesday during various shows.
