Suspects in Cincinnati assault released on bond while police search for eighth individual

Two individuals arrested in relation to the violent incident that occurred on July 26 in downtown Cincinnati have been released on bond, while authorities continue to search for an additional suspect involved in the attack.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that 24-year-old Dekyra Vernon and 25-year-old Aisha Devaughn left the Hamilton County Jail on Friday. Notably, Vernon’s bail was considerably lowered from $250,000 to $25,000, while Devaughn’s was similarly reduced from $300,000 to $25,000.

Both suspects face multiple charges, including three counts of felony assault and three counts of misdemeanor assault, as well as two counts of aggravated riot.

As part of the investigation, the Cincinnati Police Department is actively seeking an eighth suspect tied to the attack, which has gained notoriety for its extreme violence. The police stated that they are investigating felony assault incidents that took place on 4th Avenue and Elm Street.

Anyone with information on the remaining suspect is encouraged to reach out to CPD Detective Blank.

Earlier, several suspects, including Patrick Rosemond, Jermaine Matthews, and others, were arrested. Each faces similar assault and riot charges. Matthews managed to post his bond, set at $250,000, but the others are still detained. Merriweather is also facing federal charges for illegally possessing firearms.

Recently, Gregory Wright, another suspect, was charged with aggravated riots and felony robbery after being accused of a violent attack during the incident.

During a press conference, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval emphasized the need for accountability, stating that every party involved in the attack would face charges. Community leader Pastor Damon Lynch raised concerns about the racial dynamics of the incident, expressing frustration that visibility in the mug shots did not reflect the diversity of the community involved.
