Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake's office was placed on lockdown Tuesday after campaign staff opened a package containing a “suspicious” substance.
A campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital that an intern in the campaign's Phoenix office opened an envelope containing a suspicious substance and a note that read “Beware of Anthrax.”

The Phoenix Police Department said the substance was tested and determined to be “non-hazardous.”
“There is no immediate threat to the community and occupants of the building will be allowed access shortly. Investigators have been assigned,” Phoenix police said in a statement.

“The radical left, with the cooperation of the mainstream media, has escalated their attacks against me, from baseless slander and legal harassment to physical threats. I received a suspicious envelope that may have been sent to me in an attempt to blackmail me into silence,'' Lake said in a statement. “This is not just about me. This is an attack on our movement. I will not be intimidated. Those responsible must be brought to justice. Now is the time to stand together against this dangerous, un-American tactic. It’s time.”

Lake's Democratic opponent Ruben Gallego wrote in a letter to X that he “condemns this violent act of intimidation against Kari Lake, her office, and other public officials.”
“My thoughts are with the staff involved and I appreciate the quick response by @PhoenixPolice, @PHXFire and the hazardous materials team,” he said. “We hope everything is resolved safely and quickly.”
