SUV drives down LIRR tracks for half-a-mile before going up in flames

That's one way to avoid traffic jams.

A suspected drunk driver was arrested Monday after driving an SUV on LIRR tracks during a joyride that was caught on camera and ended with the vehicle bursting into flames, authorities said.

The SUV doesn't seem to be moving smoothly down the track, but the driver is undeterred and happily continues to drive past the videographer.

The unconventional route chosen by Basilio Hidalgo of Brooklyn ended at Belrose Station. The distance spans at least 800 meters of track. According to the MTA.

A fun ride came to a tragic end when the front end of the car caught fire after causing extensive damage to the tires and engine.
