Brad was arrested on October 8 and initially charged with family violence and unlawful restraint, but the charges were upgraded to murder after authorities said they believed Suzanne was dead. .

“He did not appear surprised at the time of his arrest,” the affidavit states, adding that he had cuts and bruises on his arms and hands. He also seemed “indifferent” and “showed little emotion” about her disappearance.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the couple's home on October 9 and found three cellphones and a laptop among the burnt remains. All of the cellphones belonged to Brad, according to the affidavit.

Two notes recovered from one of the mobile phones were titled 'Afterlife' and 'Last Testament'. He also confessed in the note to assaulting his wife in August 2023 and October 6, 2023, and apologized.

The affidavit also details conversations between Brad and former business partner James Cotter, who was arrested on Oct. 22 on charges of tampering with evidence.

Hours before Brad was arrested, he texted Cotter: “If you're in Bandera, can you pick me up at my house?” …”I don't have time…”

“I'll be there in 40 minutes,” Cotter replied.

Brad replied, “Okay, leave everything in the pump room, especially the gun.”

“Come here!! I won't tell anyone,” Cotter texted back, adding, “You're my brother.”

Cotter posted bond Thursday after the bond amount was significantly reduced. KSAT reported.

During a virtual court appearance for a Child Protective Services hearing on Oct. 29, Brad told the court the last time he spoke to his wife was on Oct. 6 at about 10:30 p.m.
