Suzyn Waldman shades Mariners during Yankees’ record home run day

The Mariners somehow found their way to the crosshairs during Saturday's Yankees Brulers game thanks to Suzin Waldman.

WFAN's longtime Yankees radio voice took several shots on rookie Dave Sims' old team in the Yankees' 20-9 victory over Milwaukee, including a team record nine home runs.

“Your old team didn't get 13 runs in a month,” Waldman joked to the Sims during the air.

Over the past few seasons, the Mariners have been known for their poor offense, which has often hampered them from greater success.

Last season, Seattle was only placed above the 121 Loss White Sox batting average, reaching just .224 as a team.

The Mariners also had 10 bottom finishes with hits, doubles, home runs and slugging.

Seattle finished last season with one of the best pitching staff in the majors, leading the league in his team-age years, hitting around nine innings.

The Mariners apparently brought last season's offensive struggle to 2025 as the team was closed to the A on Friday night, earning just five hits in a 7-0 loss.

Waldman's comments came as Jazz Chisholm blasted a home run in his third inning, marking the Yankees' 13th game.

Saturday's game was biased from the start. Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge hit a back-to-back home runs on three pitches to open things up against former Yankees pitcher Nestle Cortez.

Having had multiple stints with the Yankees, Cortez was traded for a brewer near Devin Williams ahead of the 2025 season.

“I think the way it's finished will be something that requires you to live with not just them but yourself. Obviously, that wasn't the way we wanted,” Cortez said on Friday of the team's loss of the 2024 World Series. “But overall… I was in the big leagues with the Yankees and I can take a lot of positives.

“Looking back at how my career was, they saw me grow up, and I became the person I was with the Yankees.
