Swiss Franc rises as US Dollar decreases due to reduced demand for safe-haven assets

USD/CHF Price Prediction: Bullish engulfing pattern appears, traders look towards 0.7900

USD/CHF Currency Update

The USD/CHF currency pair has experienced a downturn after five consecutive days of decline, settling around 0.8150 during Asian trading hours on Monday. This drop follows a weakening of the US dollar (USD), largely attributed to reduced geopolitical tensions after military clashes between the US and Iran came to a halt over the weekend, offering a brief pause in a 13-day escalating conflict.

The US decided to call off further strikes due to concerns about the depletion of interceptor missile supplies and a diminishing list of potential targets in Iran. Additionally, Dan Kaine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reportedly cautioned President Trump on Friday that ongoing military actions could severely strain critical ammunition stockpiles.

That said, market participants remain cautious. This is primarily due to recent claims by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthis regarding an attack on a Saudi facility located along the Red Sea, raising fears of possible supply interruptions.

Traders are anticipating that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady during Wednesday’s meeting, with expectations to raise them again in September. Yet, there are some who think a surprise adjustment could occur at this week’s meeting. In the meantime, investors are keenly watching economic indicators, such as the preliminary GDP data for the second quarter, PCE inflation figures, and earnings reports from major US companies, hoping these will provide more clarity on the economy’s strength.

The USD/CHF pair could see a rebound, especially since the recent drop in Swiss government bond yields might pressure the Swiss Franc (CHF). With the yield on Switzerland’s 10-year bond declining to about 0.46%, lower returns on domestic fixed-income assets are pushing global investors to seek out higher-yielding foreign bonds.
