Sidney Sweeney Embraces Nudity as Part of Her Characters

Sidney Sweeney, the 27-year-old actress, recently shared her thoughts on performing nude, expressing that she doesn’t feel nervous about it. In a conversation with W magazine, she stated, “I think a woman’s body is very powerful, and I’m telling the story of my character, so I owe it to them to tell it well.”

Sweeney has portrayed nude scenes in both the first season of “Euphoria” and the 2021 thriller “Voyles.” Her talent has evolved significantly, moving from a supporting role to being recognized as Hollywood’s “It Girl.”

While discussing her decision to act nude, Sweeney emphasized that it relates to female empowerment. However, she mentioned feeling overlooked in “Euphoria” because of her nudity, noting that recognition came later with “White Lotus.” “I felt like people were finally aware of the efforts I’ve been making, and this has been bothering me for a while,” she explained.

She also reflected on how female nudity is often perceived compared to male nudity. “When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and praises. But the moment a girl does it, it’s completely different,” she pointed out.

Moreover, Sweeney’s commitment to her craft is evident in her preparation for roles. She recently completed extensive training for her portrayal of boxer Christie Martin in an upcoming biopic, where she changed her body significantly by eating more and training diligently. “My body was completely different,” she said, adding that she encountered challenges in fitting into her clothing.

As she gears up for the third season of “Euphoria,” Sweeney had to adjust back to her previous physique within a tight timeframe. The director of her upcoming film praised her work ethic, describing her as dedicated and bright.
