Taco Bell is Rewinding to the 2000s
Taco Bell is taking a nostalgic trip back to the early 2000s with a menu that brings back some fan favorites from that era.
The revamped menu includes beloved items like Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, Caramel Apple Empanadas, 7-layer burritos, Double Decker Tacos, and Chili Cheese Burritos. It’s like a delicious time machine, really.
Starting September 9th, customers can grab these items, all priced under $3, which is pretty budget-friendly. There’s also a special $9 Discovery Luxe Box to celebrate the Crunchwrap Supreme’s 20th anniversary, featuring warm tortillas and, of course, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos.
“Taco Bell was truly one-of-a-kind in the 2000s, and that period introduced us to iconic items like the CrunchWrap Supreme, which continues to be a bestseller even today,” the company remarked.
They mentioned how fans have always wanted these classic items back. “Honestly, we missed them too,” they said, acknowledging the cultural tie these flavors have with the past. It’s not just about the food; it’s the fun and fashion that encapsulated those years.
This isn’t the first time Taco Bell has brought back a blast from the past. Last year, they offered a limited menu that highlighted a popular item from each decade, with the Caramel Apple Empanadas making a comeback in this latest Y2K menu.
Available Items on the Y2K Menu
- Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos: The long-awaited return of this fan-favorite taco, filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheddar cheese, all wrapped in a cool ranch Doritos shell for $2.49.
- Double Decker Tacos: Originally introduced in 1995, this taco features a tender tortilla surrounding a crunchy shell filled with beans, seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheddar cheese, priced at $2.49.

In addition to the menu items, Taco Bell is also launching limited-edition Y2K-themed drops, like a collaboration with Ed Hardy and nostalgic digital watches. Plus, there’s a new in-app feature called Crunchkin, an octopus pet that incentivizes users as they complete tasks.
Members of Taco Bell Rewards can get a taste of the early 2000s, including access to the Caramel Apple Empanadas, from September 2nd to September 8th.
