Taiwan Wins Little League World Series for the First Time Since 1996
After a long wait, Taiwan has claimed the title of Little League World Series champion for the first time since 1996. This victory came on Sunday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where the Tun-Yuan Little League team outplayed Nevada’s Summerlin South Little League with a decisive score of 7-0.
The game ended with a high fly ball from Nevada’s Griffin Vargas, signaling an end to the match and igniting celebrations on the field for the Taiwanese team.
Lin Chin-Tse emerged as a standout player for Taiwan, showcasing his skills throughout the tournament. On the mound, he delivered an impressive performance, hitting speeds of up to 98 mph, which proved challenging for Nevada’s batters. They struggled throughout the five innings, managing only one hit while he struck out four batters, all in just 58 pitches.
On offense, Lin also played a crucial role, contributing three RBIs with timely hits, including a bases-loaded triple. Meanwhile, Nevada faced difficulties early on, with erratic pitches and errors that ultimately hampered their chances of a successful game. Their starter, Luke D’Ambrosio, had issues with control, allowing Taiwan to capitalize on wild pitches. For instance, in the second inning, a wild pitch allowed Jian Zih-de to score, followed by another error that let Chen Shillong come home from third base.
Despite battling through four innings, D’Ambrosio’s performance included three strikeouts, but he also allowed two runs, which proved costly for his team.
As the final inning approached, Chen Qi-Sheng took to the mound for Taiwan, sealing the game’s outcome and ensuring the team’s victory would be one to remember.
