Talk of a Daniel Jones trade grows as the Colts welcome offers before the NFL deadline

It seems no one on the Indianapolis Colts roster is off the table ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

After trading Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, the Colts have also discussed the possibility of moving players such as Jonathan Taylor and Josh Downs. Now, they’re reportedly open to hearing offers for quarterback Daniel Jones, too.

Several teams have contacted Indianapolis to ask about Jones, who is preparing to play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. The Baltimore Ravens were among them, though they may no longer be interested after agreeing to acquire Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals.

The Minnesota Vikings could also be a potential suitor. Despite a 6-1 record, they’ve had some offensive struggles, and head coach Kevin O’Connell has worked with Jones before, following his departure from the New York Giants.

Jones signed a two-year contract extension in March 2026 worth $88 million, with incentives that could bring the total to $100 million. The Colts showed confidence in him even after he tore his Achilles in Week 14 last season.

Indianapolis had been among the league’s strongest teams before Jones was injured. The team struggled to find a replacement, even bringing Philip Rivers out of retirement in an attempt to fill the gap.

Minnesota, meanwhile, may feel it’s a reliable quarterback away from making a serious playoff run. Its defense, led by coordinator Brian Flores, has been among the league’s toughest, but Kyler Murray hasn’t provided consistent play. O’Connell will look to Wentz to deliver against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

The Colts have yet to find suitable deals for other notable players after moving Nelson and Buckner. The Nov. 10 deadline, set for 4 p.m. ET, could clarify the team’s plans.

Head coach Shane Steichen has backed Jones, saying he gives Indianapolis “the best chance to win right now.” Still, if the Colts are shifting toward a rebuild and seeking draft picks, immediate wins may not be their main priority.
