Dakota Mortensen, the ex-partner of Taylor Frankie Paul, has submitted a restraining order against the reality star, along with a request for temporary custody of their son amid claims of domestic violence, as confirmed by Page Six.
On Tuesday, Mortensen filed for a protective order in Utah, detailing incidents that allegedly took place on February 23 and 24, according to a report.
According to the filings, the “Mormon Wives” star is accused of having strangled Mortensen during a confrontation.
Mortensen also claims that Paul forced her against a window and punched her, making it difficult for her to release her grip from around his neck.
He described the situation as “chaotic” and “horrifying,” stating that their son, Ever, was awakened by Paul’s yelling during the ordeal.
Mortensen reported that she attempted to call 911 but felt “manipulated” into saying that her son was ill instead, as per the report. She also stated that Paul issued threats and exhibited signs of being “emotionally unstable.”
After the altercation, Mortensen managed to calm Ever down and put him back to sleep, though he woke again due to her distressed behavior. She decided to leave Paul’s house with their son to ensure his safety.
The following evening, Mortensen met up with Paul again, but he allegedly threw his phone against the wall and restrained him from leaving the house.
When Mortensen attempted to get into his vehicle, Paul reportedly began hitting him and threw a drink at him.
He noted that the entire situation left him feeling trapped in his own home, with their custody arrangement putting their child in Paul’s care during this upheaval, which compelled him to push Paul away at one point.
After leaving, Mortensen received a message from Paul suggesting he had a nosebleed and needed medical help, which Mortensen interpreted as an effort to evade police involvement.
He expressed concern for both his own safety and that of his child while stating he had visible bruises and cuts.
No immediate comments were available from representatives for either Mortensen or Paul.
Furthermore, it was reported that Paul is under investigation for domestic violence, and filming for “Mormon Wives” has been paused.
A source shared that there are significant issues connected to Paul’s past that the production team is looking into, and filming won’t resume until matters are resolved.
Amid these events, Paul expressed his frustration regarding personal matters becoming public just as the new season of “The Bachelorette” was set to launch.
The Draper City Police Department had previously engaged with both parties on February 21, 24, and 25 regarding the allegations, noting that accusations had emerged from both sides.
In an earlier interview, Paul mentioned the difficulties she faced in enjoying premiere events, hinting at the stress surrounding recent developments.
Recently, a video surfaced online depicting Paul allegedly assaulting Mortensen.
As for their relationship history, Mortensen and Paul dated from 2022 to 2024. Paul has other familial ties as well; she shares children with her former spouse, Tate Paul.
In a prior incident, Paul faced charges related to an altercation where she was accused of throwing a chair that hit her then-8-year-old daughter, but asserted that all charges were eventually dropped.
With ongoing drama surrounding her public image, Paul’s anticipated season of “The Bachelorette” has been canceled following the leaked video, with the network stating they are choosing to prioritize family safety.
