Taylor Sheridan’s New Call of Duty Movie Set for 2028 Release
Taylor Sheridan, the creator behind “Yellowstone,” has seen his career skyrocket and is reportedly locked into a deal valued at over $1 billion with NBCUniversal.
While his primary focus remains on the expanding “Yellowstone” universe with various spin-offs either in progress or airing, he’s also turning his attention to the silver screen. One of his upcoming projects is the “Call of Duty” film.
Release Date Announced for Call of Duty Movie
At CinemaCon last Thursday, it was revealed that the film based on the popular video game series will premiere on June 30, 2028.
Written by Sheridan and directed by the experienced Peter Berg—known for hits like “Friday Night Lights” and “Lone Survivor”—the project is generating significant buzz.
Given the track records of both Sheridan and Berg, one can reasonably expect a challenging and intense film. Sheridan’s past works, like “Wind River” and “Sicario,” offer a glimpse of his penchant for darker themes.
“Call of Duty” is quite a significant title in the gaming world, boasting sales of over 500 million copies. However, the storyline for the film remains a mystery for now. Fans are hoping it leans more toward a realistic narrative rather than a futuristic, high-tech saga.
As much as futuristic war stories can be appealing, many would probably prefer a grounded approach, especially with the talents of Berg and Sheridan at the helm. There’s certainly a lot of potential here, given the pair’s proven abilities.
In addition to this project, Sheridan is working on several others, like “Dutton Ranch,” which is set to debut on Paramount+ in May, and Season 3 of “Lioness.” With all of this content on the horizon, expectations for the “Call of Duty” movie are understandably high. What do you think about this upcoming film?
