Cubs fans are praising Taylor Swift's influence.
Before the Cubs won their second straight game and fourth in five against the Pirates on Tuesday, manager Craig Counsell said the tradition of lighting a “Taylor Swift candle” before games was the reason for the team's recent victory marches.
“We were gifted a Taylor Swift candle, so we're lighting it in our office before the game,” clubhouse manager Danny Miller said. [and I]” I think it's a good thing we're in this together,” Counsell, 54, said before Chicago beat Pittsburgh 9-5 at PNC Park.
“Things have been going well lately, so I'd like to thank Taylor Swift,” he said with a smile.
That momentum continued on Wednesday as the Cubs (68-66) beat the Pirates (62-71) 14-10 to record their third straight victory.
“There are a lot of Swifties among Cubs fans,” said interviewer Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network. “Maybe some good fortune will come from those Swifties making an impact on the Cubs.”
Many Chicago fans and Swifties alike enjoyed Counsell's comments.

Swift doesn't appear to have any direct ties to the Cubs, but she did go public with her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at an NFL game against the Bears last fall.
The Grammy Award-winning singer nearly became an internet sensation when she was spotted in a private suite at Arrowhead Stadium with Kelsey's friends, family, and mother, Donna Kelsey, to watch the Chiefs beat the Bears, 41-10, on September 24.
This marked Swift's first public appearance at an NFL game to support Kelce.
The three-time Super Bowl champion previously said on his podcast, “New Heights,” that he went to one of Swift's “Ellas Tour” concerts and tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, and that he was the one who first suggested meeting her.
Kelsey explained that Swift wasn't meeting with anyone at the time to help her keep her voice up for the three-hour show.
The two kept in contact after that and began quietly dating last summer.
Swift and Kelsey, both 34, first made a public appearance together in New York City last October.
The NFL star accompanied Swift on her “Eras Tour” in Europe after helping the Chiefs beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl in February.
On Tuesday, Variety reported that the Kelsey brothers won a $100 million contract It has partnered with Amazon's Wondery to produce and distribute popular podcasts.
Kelsey also recently became the owner of a racehorse named after Swift, The Washington Post reported exclusively.
