Taylor Swift discusses fan speculation about her leaving music after the release of 'Life of a Showgirl'

Look at what you let her do.

Taylor Swift has dismissed the “shockingly offensive” theory circulated by fans that she would retire from music after tying the knot with Travis Kelce, who represents the “showgirl life.”

While appearing on “BBC Radio 2,” host Scott Mills brought up the speculation, asking Swift directly, “Can’t you just say this is your last album?” To which she quickly responded, “What? No.”

Mills elaborated on the theory that her 12th album might be her final one. Swift, 35, found this idea “surprisingly aggressive.” She clarified her stance: “That’s not the reason people get married, so they can quit their jobs. It’s more that he loves what I do, appreciates the people around me, and recognizes how fulfilled I am when creating art and music.”

She continued, highlighting that Kelce’s passion mirrors her own, creating a connection between them. “There’s no point in him being upset that I’m still making music. Imagine him saying, ‘The music I signed up for, I knew you loved it, but I thought you’d stop.'”

In the course of the interview, Swift discussed how she and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, manage to bond over their respective careers, despite their differences. “It’s incredibly enjoyable to support each other, even though our fields are so different. But it’s funny—there are so many similarities too,” she shared, reflecting on their demanding schedules. “We both perform for three and a half hours, whether it’s at an NFL stadium or a concert.”

Swift spoke about their relationships and personal lives, mentioning that her recent album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” contains love songs inspired by connections with Kelce and his podcast co-hosts. Songs like “Opalite,” “Honey,” and “Wood” highlight these themes.

In one track, she sings, “Please forgive me, it sounds cocky / he (aaah!) [d–kmatized] Me / and opened my eyes / Redwood tree / It’s not difficult to see / His love was the key / Opened my thighs.” Later in the song, she adds, “My curse was broken by your magic wand.”

The couple officially started dating in the summer of 2023, and they got engaged in August, announcing their news through a joint Instagram post on August 26th. Interestingly, the proposal had taken place weeks prior.

Swift is clearly stepping into new phases both personally and professionally, and, well, it seems the music isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
