A young Taylor Swift fan has died in a car accident on his way to the pop star’s Friday night concert in Melbourne, Australia.

Mieka Pokarje, 16, her 10-year-old sister Freya, and mother Kim Litchfield traveled 17 hours from the Gold Coast city to attend shows on the 34-year-old singer’s Elas tour. They were on a road trip when their SUV crashed. Thursday’s semi-trailer, according to Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper.

Emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision near Dubbo, New South Wales, at around 6pm.

The newspaper said the teenager died at the scene and her sister, who suffered brain injuries, a broken leg and pelvic injuries, was taken to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital, where she was put into an induced coma and remains in a critical condition. The situation is said to continue.

The girl’s mother suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Dubbo Hospital. The driver of the semi-trailer was also taken to Dubbo Hospital, where she was said to be in a stable condition, The Australian reported.

Meeka and Freya’s godmother, Carly Fox, told the New York Post that her daughters were excited to see Swift perform and had tickets to her concerts in Melbourne and Sydney. Ta.

Fox has created a GoFundMe page for the family, which has already raised more than $25,000 in donations.

“Last night, one of my dearest friends was driving from the Gold Coast to Melbourne with her two children (my precious children) when she was involved in a head-on collision with a semi-trailer. ” she wrote.

Ms Fox continued: “She lost one of her children (16) and the 10-year-old was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with a life-threatening brain injury, pelvis damage and a broken leg. We are fighting,” he continued.

“My whole family has had to take time off from work to catch the flight and I am trying to arrange a flight to support my mother as she is alone in Dubbo until she can get to Sydney. It will be used to function during this difficult time,” she added.

“We are also looking for accommodation, which is difficult to find in Sydney at the moment because with the influx of Swifty, there is an influx of people who don’t know anything.

Thanks for your cooperation. This was supposed to be the road trip of a lifetime, going to concerts in both Melbourne and Sydney,” Fox concluded.

In a subsequent update, Ms Fox said she had traveled from the Gold Coast to Sydney to support her family. She wrote that Litchfield flew from Dubbo to Sydney and was reunited with Freya in hospital.

Fox explained that Freya will remain in a medically induced coma for several more days until she recovers.

“While we have had thorough discussions with our wonderful doctors about the likely prognosis, we are not out of the woods yet and the risk of brain swelling and infection remains clear. This remains a life-threatening condition. Possibly,” she wrote.

Fox also thanked hospital staff, the family’s supportive network of friends and donors who donated to GoFundMe.

On Friday night, Swift performed in front of 96,000 fans at a sold-out concert at Melbourne’s Cricket Ground.
