Taylor Swift sits separate from Brittany Mahomes at Chiefs game amid Trump support controversy

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes both cheered on their teams during the Kansas City Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Thursday's season opener, but they may differ on other issues.

Swift and Mahomes were spotted sitting in separate suites at Arrowhead Stadium amid controversy over Mahomes' recent support for Donald Trump.

Mahomes and Swift have had a habit of sitting together in a suite since Swift began attending games after going public with tight end Travis Kelce last year. Their scenes together, gesturing idiotically during cutaways on broadcasts, became a fixture at Chiefs games last season.

The friendship between Mahomes, who is the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and Swift, who has been Kelce's girlfriend for more than a year, has become a symbol of the Chiefs' expanding female fan base, and the two have been seen appearing together at public events.

However, the 2024 season has started differently as Mahomes has been embroiled in controversy after expressing his support for Trump through his Instagram activity in recent weeks. Swift was seen in a suite with Kelsey's mother, Donna Kelsey, while Mahomes was seen sitting in a suite with his daughter, Sterling Skye. Instagram Stories.

Mahomes, a 29-year-old expectant mother, first showed her support for Trump on August 13 when she “liked” an Instagram post by Trump that outlined his “2024 Republican platform.”

The like sparked a furious backlash against the superstar quarterback's wife, with some of the critics being Swift's fans. Multiple fan pages dedicated to Swift posted screenshots of the like on social media, sparking a backlash.

Mahomes responded to the criticism in an Instagram Story on August 23.

“Let's be honest: harboring hatred as an adult means you have deep-rooted issues from childhood that you refuse to heal,” she writes. “It's impossible for a fully developed brain to hate seeing others doing well.”

She posted another message on Instagram a few days later addressing the situation.

“Contrary to the mood of the world today, you can disagree with someone and still love them. You can disagree and still be kind to them,” she wrote on Aug. 26. “Read that again!”

Last week, she appeared to “like” two other comments, one which read “Trump Vance 2024” and another which said, “Glad to see you won't back down. We are all entitled to our opinions and should not be threatened into caveing ​​in.”

Mahomes' Instagram likes and subsequent attention also caught the attention of President Trump himself, who thanked Mahomes in a post on his Truth social account, praising her and her husband, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, as a “great couple.”

What a great couple. See you at the Super Bowl!”

Mahomes' controversial Instagram likes don't appear to have caused a rift between her and her husband. On Brittany's 29th birthday, August 31, Patrick posted a series of Instagram Photos On Saturday, he and wife Brittany Mahomes were shown celebrating her 29th birthday. The slideshow included group photos of them and their children, 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye and 1-year-old son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.

Patrick has been Brittany has not publicly endorsed any politician or party, and told TIME magazine in April that she would not discuss who she would vote for in the next election. Brittany and Patrick were born and raised in East Texas and began dating while attending Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. Whitehouse is a town of about 8,500 people that has a history of voting Republican, according to Data USA.

However, Brittany's recent social media activity may tell a different story when it comes to her relationship with Swift.

Swift has not officially endorsed a candidate in the 2024 election, but has a long history of political activism supporting the Democratic Party.

After Trump was first elected president in 2016, Swift first took a political stance, endorsing Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the 2018 US midterm elections in her family's home state of Tennessee.

Swift has also publicly supported abortion rights, LGBTQ inclusion, and gun control.

In 2020, Swift formally endorsed Joe Biden for president and condemned President Trump's administration as “racist” following the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.
