Taylor Swift’s Changing Relationships Raise Questions About Her Godchildren

Taylor Swift’s close circle seems to be shifting, but it’s uncertain what that means for her five godchildren.

The singer serves as godmother to Jamie King’s 10-year-old son, Leo, and to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ three children: Olin, three; Betty, six; Ines, nine; and James, eleven. She was once so close to the daughters that their names inspired some of her songs, including “Betty” from the 2020 album *Folklore*.

Yet, sources have reported that none of these children attended Swift’s wedding celebrations with Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 2nd and 3rd.

In 2015, King invited Swift to take on the role of godmother for Leo, shortly after they had become friends during a Fourth of July event in Rhode Island with fellow celebrities Emma Stone and Lena Dunham, who was also present at the wedding.

A source familiar with their dynamic hinted at the tenuous nature of their friendship: “She and Jamie were close when Jamie was pregnant, but there wasn’t a long history there.” It appears that their friendship may have seen better days as reports have surfaced about the struggles King has faced over the years.

In fact, a source close to King remarked in April 2025 that her friendship with Swift has dwindled due to her personal hardships, including the loss of custody of her children after not completing a rehabilitation program.

Swift and her former friend Lively have also reportedly experienced a fallout, particularly during Lively’s legal issues with the director Justin Baldoni regarding *It Ends With Us*. This situation led to some private text exchanges coming to light, which may have spotlighted changes in their relationship dynamic.

Interestingly, Todrick Hall, a singer and former associate of Swift, was removed from her wedding guest list after expressing unfavorable views about her, illustrating the shifting alliances in Swift’s life.

While actress Martha Hunt, who has connections to both King and Swift, did not attend the wedding, other details about Kelsey’s guest list remain somewhat unclear. It’s noted, for instance, that while Hunt was a part of Swift’s life for some time—appearing in her “Bad Blood” video—their last interactions were in 2023.

Despite her apparent disconnect from some friends, it is said that Swift remains deeply loyal to the people she cares about. A source pointed out that this loyalty might be the reason for Lorde’s absence at the wedding, referencing comments from Dunham’s memoir about Lorde’s relationship with Swift’s then-fiancé, music producer Jack Antonoff.

Swift seems to maintain her friendships based on personal connections, seemingly unaffected by media narratives, as highlighted by her enduring relationship with Dunham over the years.
