False Alarm at Splendora High School Leads to Teacher’s Arrest
On Thursday morning, a teacher at Splendora High School triggered a panic alert around 8:45 a.m., resulting in a response from over 100 police officers. The school was already in lockdown when authorities arrived, and officials later informed parents that they were looking into an “assault” involving students and staff.
According to reports, the incident involved Nicole Truelove, a 53-year-old teacher, who claimed to have been stabbed by a student using a razor blade. However, students reacted with confusion and fear as teachers hurried them into classrooms during the lockdown.
After a thorough investigation, police concluded that Truelove had inflicted the injuries on herself and then attempted to blame the student. Deputy Chief Rick Bass from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office stated, “The investigation determined that the student did not assault the teacher. The injuries sustained by the teacher were self-inflicted.” There was also evidence suggesting that the situation was a hoax.
As a result, Truelove has been charged with false reporting and tampering with evidence. Bass emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating, “If there is a threat on a school campus, this is what should happen… We’ll hold you accountable for it if it’s a hoax.”
The school superintendent, Dr. Dustin Bromley, commented on the situation, stating, “While this is a very unfortunate incident, the safety and security measures we have put in place worked perfectly.” He thanked students, staff, and parents for their cooperation during the emergency protocols, underscoring that the safety of everyone involved remains the top priority.
Interestingly, KHOU-TV later uncovered that Truelove had previously filed a lawsuit against another school district, claiming sexual assault by an inmate. That case was settled, but the inmate had also alleged false charges, which he ultimately dropped. After just one year in the Splendora District, this incident marked a troubling moment in her career.
Splendora is a small Texas town of about 2,000 residents, located roughly 59 miles northeast of Houston.
