Texas Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Student

A teacher from an elementary school in Texas has been taken into custody, facing accusations of sexually assaulting a fifth-grade student several years ago, according to police reports. The student reportedly informed authorities that the teacher had them play “Truth or Dare,” pushing them to kiss one another.

This development was disclosed by the San Antonio Police Department, which stated that 46-year-old Cecilia Mueller has been charged with continuous sexual assault of a child.

Instances of inappropriate behavior reportedly occurred when the alleged victim and Mueller were alone in the classroom. The teacher is accused of touching the student’s feet and then expressing a desire for “more,” eventually leading to sexual encounters in a classroom closet.

Authorities mentioned they believe there might be more victims linked to these incidents.

Barry Perez, spokesperson for the Northside Independent School District, shared that Mueller had begun her tenure at the district in August 2007. She taught at Lewis Elementary School until her transfer to Henderson Elementary School in June 2019.

The now 20-year-old alleged victim recalled being in Mueller’s fifth-grade class at Lewis Elementary during the 2016-2017 school year. Following the arrest, the victim disclosed that he was one of Mueller’s “favorites,” a term she used to describe students who would then engage in conversations with her that crossed boundaries.

Further accounts reveal that these favored students would sometimes stay over for lunch, during which Mueller allegedly showed them explicit music videos, and even pornographic content. There were instances when she would play “Truth or Dare” which resulted in the students kissing. She is said to have warned them against telling their parents, suggesting they could face serious repercussions.

Allegations also surfaced that during moments alone in the classroom, Mueller kissed the student and made it clear she desired additional intimacy, even while her own child was present. The victim noted Mueller seemed to dismiss any concerns he had regarding her child, assuring him the child “wouldn’t remember.”

As reported by various channels, including KABB and WOAI, investigations revealed the two exchanged a significant number of texts; around 300 messages were found between their phones in just one week in February 2017.

It was indicated by the alleged victim that the abuse ceased once he completed fifth grade. Reports also detail how Mueller told him to keep their relationship secret and suggested he reach out to her when he turned 18.

Currently, Mueller is being held at the Bexar County Jail with bail set at $95,000. Should she be convicted, the potential consequences include a life sentence and a fine reaching $10,000.

In response to the troubling situation, Principal Liliana Hinojosa of Henderson Elementary sent a letter to parents, characterizing the circumstances as “very disturbing” and “difficult.” She communicated that the school district is cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation.

The Northside Independent School District confirmed that Mueller has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues. At the moment, inquiries for comments from Henderson Elementary and the school district have not yet received a reply.
