Teacher Suspended After Showing Graphic Video to Students
A public school teacher has been suspended due to allegations of showing graphic footage of Charlie Kirk’s assassination to students as young as 10 years old.
The principal of Corvette Junior Public School in Toronto, Jennifer Koptie, informed parents in a letter on Friday that a class of 5th and 6th graders was shown a “portion of a violent video” regarding Kirk’s assassination, which occurred last Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
A spokesperson from the Toronto District School Board confirmed that the displayed video was indeed related to Kirk’s death.
“Several students went home and told their parents they were traumatized after witnessing the on-camera death, which they had to watch multiple times,” a source mentioned to the Toronto Sun.
According to reports, the teacher also indicated to students that Kirk deserved his fate for his beliefs while discussing topics such as transgender issues and anti-fascism, as noted by the New York Post.
“While repeatedly playing the video, he spoke about anti-fascism and anti-trans views, implying that Charlie Kirk deserved this outcome,” the source added.
Koptie clarified that the teacher was not the regular class instructor but was supervising the session when the incident occurred. She also stated that the individual has been suspended while an investigation is conducted.
“This incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable. We recognize its seriousness and have taken immediate steps to ensure all appropriate policies are followed,” she wrote.
“The teacher has been relieved of all educational responsibilities during the investigation and will not be returning to the school. Students affected by the video will receive support,” the letter further explained.
“I will personally visit the class along with a member of our Social Work team to check in with the students and provide assistance,” concluded Koptie’s letter.
Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot with a high-powered bolt-action rifle. The alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, is described by Utah Governor Spencer Cox as someone “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”
