Teacher Accused of Sexual Relationship with Student
A teacher from a Colorado middle school is facing serious allegations of engaging in a sexual relationship with a troubled teenage student for over a year. Once the student ended the relationship, the teacher reportedly began stalking him.
Teresa Weylin, a 28-year-old health teacher in the Denver suburbs, confessed to authorities about the sexual relationship. She also admitted to sending nude photos and even created a fake phone number to contact the student anonymously, as detailed in an arrest affidavit.
According to the documents, the boy, who was around 14 years old when the relationship started in April 2023, was 12 years younger than Weylin. He had been dealing with mental health challenges, including self-harm.
The student characterized their connection as a “date,” recalling moments where they exchanged explicit messages on Snapchat, dined out together, and spent time in a classroom at Ranchview Middle School.
However, the dynamic shifted when the boy stopped communicating with Weylin. It appears that she struggled with the breakup, prompting her to begin stalking him. This behavior involved driving by the boy’s home and appearing near the school, causing concern among students who felt intimidated and had to alter their routines.
Eventually, the student revealed the relationship to a school counselor, who then contacted the authorities. Weylin was arrested the same day. During police questioning, she admitted to the sexual relationship, to sending nude images, and to the anonymous calls, claiming she believed the boy would seek her out for help.
Weylin faces multiple charges, including sexual assault of a child by someone in a position of trust, internet exploitation of a child, and stalking. Currently, she is being held at the Douglas County Jail with a bail set at $50,000.
She has been part of the Douglas County School District since July 2021. In light of these events, Ranchview Principal Erin Cairo addressed parents, stating that they are working to find long-term replacements for the teacher’s classes and reassuring that the administrative team is dedicated to supporting students during this transition.
