Former Teacher Sentenced for Sexual Offenses
Jacqueline MA, a 36-year-old ex-teacher at Lincoln Acre Primary School, was sentenced to 30 years in state prison due to sexual offenses involving two minors. Once celebrated as one of San Diego County’s top educators, MA’s actions have drastically changed her reputation.
Prosecutors revealed that she had groomed a 12-year-old boy for about ten months, during which she sent love letters and suggestive texts. She even went so far as to urge the boy’s mother to report the relationship to authorities. In the classroom, she sexually assaulted him for three months while his parents believed he was participating in an after-school basketball program. Additionally, it was claimed that MA had previously groomed an 11-year-old boy, using gifts, special attention, and by doing their homework as part of her manipulative tactics.
In February, MA pleaded guilty to two counts of forced perverted behavior against a child, one count related to child sexual abuse material, and other related charges. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office emphasized the severity of the crimes. According to District Attorney Summer Stefan, MA’s betrayal of trust led to extreme and traumatic consequences for her victims. She highlighted that the long-term effects on these children would be significant, warranting the substantial sentence.
In court, MA expressed remorse, stating that she felt “deeply embarrassed” and acknowledged the harm she inflicted. She reflected on her abuse of authority, admitting her actions robbed the children of their innocence. “Instead of fostering a safe environment, I neglected my responsibilities and let my selfishness dictate my actions,” she lamented.
Ironically, MA had been awarded “Teacher of the Year” for the 2022-2023 school year before these serious allegations surfaced. She taught fifth and sixth graders, leaving behind a troubling legacy.
