Abuse Incident at Texas Elementary School

A disturbing video has emerged showing two teachers at a Texas school mistreating a 5-year-old boy with autism, resulting in a broken leg, prompting outrage from his mother.

In the footage, Guadalupe Rodriguez’s nonverbal son was seen being picked up and slammed to the floor at Wild Peach Elementary School in Brazoria. The boy, after landing on his feet, tumbled backward while trying to crawl away from the adult responsible.

Rodriguez was deeply affected by the video and requested to view more footage from October 30, the day her son was injured. “This is a permanent trauma for me and my son,” she expressed, adding that she never imagined such treatment would occur. “I fell to my knees and cried.”

Additional video evidence suggested a broader pattern of abuse, showing the same educator earlier picking up the boy, dropping him, and then pushing him down before walking away. Another teacher was seen attempting to assist the boy in walking on his injured leg before kicking him in the ankle.

“My son was clearly in distress, but none of the teachers intervened,” Rodriguez stated, emphasizing the lack of concern shown by the staff.

In response to the incident, the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District confirmed to KHOU that both educators involved had been fired. However, Rodriguez was not satisfied with this outcome. “I feel relieved, but I’m not satisfied at all,” she said. “Neither of them are in jail. They are still free.”

The school district, located about 90 miles south of Houston, communicated details of the incident to parents via email. The message indicated that the situation has been reported to various agencies, including Family and Protective Services, and an internal investigation is ongoing. Principal Anne Cohair mentioned in a subsequent letter that the teachers acted outside of their training and guidance. “The safety and well-being of our students is paramount,” she asserted. “This behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect our values.”

As of now, no charges have been brought against the educators involved.
