Tkachuk Brothers Shine in NHL Together
The Tkachuk brothers—Matthew and Brady—have already made waves on an international level, but now they have the chance to bring that excitement to the NHL more regularly. Earlier this year, they helped Team USA secure an Olympic gold medal, and now Brady has joined his brother on the Florida Panthers, the team that previously won the Stanley Cup in two consecutive seasons before the Carolina Hurricanes claimed it last season.
When the trade was finalized, fans anticipated it was just a matter of time before the brothers would produce some thrilling moments together.
And they didn’t take long to prove that point.
In their seventh game of the current season, Brady scored a hat trick on Tuesday, with each goal set up by Matthew. To add to the excitement, Matthew not only assisted Brady but also recorded two additional assists, making it a combined total of nine points for the brothers in Florida’s 7-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Remarkably, all of Brady’s goals came within an 8:03 span during the second period. This feat made him just the ninth player in Panthers history to net three goals in a single period, while also marking a notable achievement as the brothers became the third and fourth players in the franchise to have a four-point period.
This achievement places Brady in a unique historical spot; he became the ninth NHL player ever to score a hat trick with each goal assisted by his brother, the first instance of this happening since Daniel Sedin received assistance from his brother Henrik back in 2015.
The Tkachuks first teamed up during the 2025 4 Nations Face Off, where they famously got into fights within seconds of their game against Canada. This marked the return of international hockey in a best-on-best format since the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
While Canada won that tournament in a nail-biting overtime game for the gold, the United States secured their long-awaited redemption in February by clinching their first gold medal since 1980.
