The LPGA is back as the women’s team begins its first swing in Asia for the 2024 season. This week, the Honda LPGA Thailand event will be held at the Siam Country Club Old Course in Chonburi, Thailand.

Reigning champion and current world No. 1 Lilia Vu struggled on the first day, along with most of the Team USA Solheim Cup members in the field. Boo shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 60th place, but she wasn’t alone.

Jennifer Kupcho also shot a 1-over 73 on Thursday. However, it was Cheyenne Knight who tied for the worst opening round score with a 3-over 75.

Of the six Team USA members playing, only three are under par: Andrea Lee, Arisen Corpuz and Daniel Kang.

Kan posted: highest score She is in 19th place, five strokes behind Peiyun Chain.

He hit bogey on the second par-4 hole, but quickly recovered and made three birdies over the next five holes. He also birdied the 13th, but stroked up on the 15th and suffered his second bogey. However, Kang made a birdie on the 18th hole to get back to 3 under par and ended the day with momentum.

Lee and Corpus both finished in the 2-under 70 range.

What started out as a poor day quickly turned around for the reigning U.S. Women’s Open champion, as Corpus made five birdies, including four of her final five holes, and headed home on No. 31.

Meanwhile, Lee Seung-yeop, who started from the back nine, immediately dropped a shot at No. 13. He made a birdie on the 18th hole and turned at even par, then improved his score by two strokes on the second and third holes, making six consecutive pars and moving up to second place. It wasn’t a great day for the Americans on the field overall, but there is reason for optimism.

At the end of the first day, the leader, Chiang, posted an 8-under 64, matching the lowest 18-hole score of his career. She is unlikely to repeat it Friday, and her cut line could be lowered.

“I think [this course is] You can get a good score very easily. Anything can happen,” Chien said after the round. “I just have to play every shot I can and play the best I can. Every shot is the best.”
