Team USA Wins Gold in Mixed Team Aerial at Winter Olympics
On the final day of the Winter Olympics, Team USA kicked off with a gold medal victory on Saturday. The trio of Kyla Kuhn, Connor Curran, and Christopher Lillis secured the top spot in the freestyle ski mixed team aerial event, amassing an impressive total of 325.35 points that comfortably outperformed competitors from Switzerland, China, and Australia.
Lillis executed a full back double, which earned him a score of 117.19 points. Curran followed with a back full double and a full full, totaling 113.72 points, while Kuhn contributed with 94.44 points.
This marks the second consecutive gold medal for Team USA in this category, which debuted during the 2022 Beijing Olympics. In the previous games, Lillis, alongside Ashley Caldwell and Justin Schoenefeld, scored 338.34 points, defeating teams from China, Canada, and Switzerland.
Notably, this is the first Olympic medal for both Curran and Kuhn. Curran, who previously competed on the junior world circuit, made his Olympic debut at just 21 years old, making him the youngest athlete in aerial events. Kuhn had participated in women’s aerials at the 2022 Beijing games but finished in eighth place. She later secured gold in both the women’s aerial and mixed team events at the 2025 Freestyle Skiing World Championships.
With this latest win, Team USA added another gold to its tally, bringing the total to 30 medals across the Olympics, along with 11 Olympic berths.
