WNBA star Brittney Griner and his wife have welcomed a new baby boy, but Britney has made it clear she doesn’t want to be called “mom.”
In an interview with CBS Sports, Griner said he would like to be called “Pops.”
The CBS reporter noted that Griner and his wife, Sherrell, have just had their first child and are about to start a new job, which he said is “really hard and really scary.”
The couple gave birth to a baby boy earlier this month but had not commented publicly about the birth until last week.
But now that the couple has spent a few weeks with their new son, Griner is opening up a few more details about how she feels about the birth — and one thing she did reveal was the roles the pair will be playing.
Before answering questions about her son, Griner told CBS that she plans to teach him to call him “Daddy.”

Griner noted that when children come into your life, “everything you thought was important just goes out the window.”
WNBA players also expressed frustration at having to leave their teams to begin training for the Olympics as part of the U.S. women’s basketball team.
Britney and Sherrelle Griner attracted public attention last month when Griner posed topless for maternity photos.
