SJSU has disabled comments X The government removed Fleming from highlights shows and even match summaries following the backlash over him playing for the women's team.

After transferring to SJSU from Alabama in 2023, Slusser shared housing with four teammates, including Fleming, a man. Out kick Slusser reported that she frequently had to room with Fleming on the expedition, and later learned that Fleming had specifically requested that she do so.
According to Slusser's lawsuit, she was never informed there were any male players on the team, and although she noticed that Fleming could jump higher and hit the ball harder than any of the women at San Jose State, she didn't realize he was male until she overheard students calling him “a man.”
Slusser expressed discomfort with having a transgender player on the team and questioned whether it would be safe for teammates and opposing players.
“Ultimately, the NCAA has failed to provide a safe, fair and equal playing field for female athletes in college sports.”
Slusser also expressed concern about the possibility of a concussion and said he and his teammates regularly discuss the risk of being hit by Fleming's cleats.
Teammates aren't the only ones who have noticed the speed at which the male players are hitting the ball: The mother of a Nevada Wolf Pack player also recently spoke out against the male players.

Cheney is from Nevada. Carissa Chaneysaid he was “concerned for all players” playing against Fleming because of the high injury risk.
“This is about much more than her, her Nevada team or the Mountain West Conference. … At the end of the day, the NCAA has not provided a safe, fair and equal playing field for female athletes in college sports,” Chaney added.
Nevada will play SJSU on Oct. 26.
Adding to concerns from players and mothers, the Southern Utah women's team withdrew from the game against SJSU altogether after reports surfaced that the team told tournament officials they did not want to play against an undefeated team.
It has not been confirmed, but not denied, that Fleming was the reason for the cancellation.
