Intel Corporation is moving forward with another round of job cuts, impacting its workforce.
The well-known chip manufacturer plans to cut 52 manufacturing positions in Santa Clara, following a California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) submitted on September 18. Employees affected by these layoffs will have their final day on September 30.
The layoffs will occur at various locations, including Intel’s main corporate office at the Robert Noyce Building on Mission College Boulevard, where 22 individuals will lose their jobs.
Furthermore, other reductions will take place at nearby offices in Santa Clara, with 24 workers impacted at the SC-12 site on Juliette Lane, another five at the SC-9 facility also on Juliette Lane, and one employee at the SC-11 office on Laurelwood Road.
Intel’s recent cuts come amid a wave of layoffs across the tech sector in California. Earlier this month, for example, PayPal revealed it would be eliminating 251 positions at its San Jose headquarters, affecting a range of senior roles including directors and engineers.
In a similar vein, Oracle employees received surprising termination notices on September 14, which informed them that it would be their last day, citing “broader organizational change” as the rationale behind this decision.
“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change,” read the layoff emails, according to reports from Business Insider.
Additionally, Uber announced significant restructuring plans in September, aiming to cut about 10% of its workforce, which translates to around 3,300 jobs.
