Teen Charged in Gang Assault After Car Rally Incident
A 19-year-old boy has been charged with gang assault following an incident at a chaotic car rally in Malva, New York, on November 23, according to police reports.
Justin Aguilera faces multiple charges, including two counts of gang assault, four counts of assault, one count of rioting, and one count of burglary. This information was shared by a spokesperson from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs. He was arrested on Thursday at around 6 p.m. at the 109th Precinct.
The car rally, which disrupted the neighborhood, occurred around 12:30 a.m., when a group of drivers exhibited their skills with donuts at the intersection of South Drive and 141st Street. Reports indicate that Blake Feller and his wife were assaulted after they asked a driver to leave the premises. Feller sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, and was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.
In a tweet, City Councilmember Vickie Palladino described the scene as an invasion of criminals attacking homeowners, emphasizing the unacceptable nature of the event under current governance.
Video footage shared by Palladino shows the couple interacting with others on a lawn, with indications that a baseball bat was involved. The clip also captures a vehicle engulfed in flames amid the crowd of drivers.
Authorities have identified Aguilera as a primary suspect and are currently looking for three additional individuals connected to the attack. He is slated for arraignment on Friday.
After the confrontation, police reported that two suspects fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Silverado, believed to be males aged between 18 and 24. The NYPD detailed that the suspects had engaged in a physical altercation with the 50-year-old victim, resulting in lacerations and bruises. Fortunately, the victim is reportedly in stable condition.
