The Brazilian teenager reportedly died after spending seven days suffering in hospital after injecting the body of a crushed butterfly.
The 14-year-old died last week at a hospital in Planarto, Brazil. Report by Daily Mail.
Teenager Davi Nunes Moreira reportedly caused his leg to throw him before his father took him to Vitóriada Conquista General Hospital.
Doctors say Moreira's cause of death could be the result of an allergic reaction or infection caused by insect toxins.
“It could have been an embolism, infection, or an allergic reaction,” Luis Fernando D. Lervas, a hospital's Santa Marcelana expert, told Brazilian media.
“I don't know how he prepared this mixture or how he prepared the size of the fragments he injected into his body,” added Relvas.
The specialist also speculated that “embolism, an obstruction of the blood vessels, “can lead to sudden deterioration and death,” and that “it could be possible that air may remain inside.” .
Investigators are also reportedly investigating the possibility that toxins from the butterfly formulation “may have been closed down when he fell into septic shock.”
Meanwhile, local police say they are awaiting the results of the juvenile's autopsy before they can announce his official cause of death.
Authorities also speculate that the teen may have injected himself with butterfly ruins for the “online challenge,” and are currently investigating the issue.
As reported by Breitbart News, there has been an increase in teens and children taking part in dangerous online “challenges” in recent years, resulting in deaths or children being rushed to hospitals. Many of these social media are eagerly spread on the popular Tiktok app in China.
