Bronx Shooting Leaves One Teen Dead
A tragic incident unfolded in the Bronx on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy and injuries to two other teenagers during a large street fight, according to police and eyewitness reports.
Authorities arrived at the intersection of Broadway and West 238th Street in Kingsbridge around 5:10 p.m. They discovered the 16-year-old with gunshot wounds to his back, along with a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, both suffering from injuries to their right legs.
All three victims were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where the older teen was later pronounced dead.
The police stated that the two younger victims are currently in stable condition.
Details surrounding the cause of the shooting are still unclear. A local resident described hearing five gunshots and witnessing “hundreds” of young people fleeing the area in fear.
“It was scary. I live here and I was really worried that a stray bullet could come through my window,” said Regina Hall, who recounted that she even escaped through her living room window when the shots rang out.
Hall expressed concern about the large number of teenagers gathering in the streets after school, which she believes exacerbates tensions. She called for an increased police presence in the area to help mitigate such conflicts.
“I’m shocked, but honestly, I thought something like this would happen because these kids can get out of hand,” she added, reflecting on the unpredictability of the situation.
“Nobody…nobody seems to have any control over these kids,” she lamented.
As of now, police have reported no arrests related to the incident, and the investigation is still ongoing.
