An 18-year-old from the San Diego area found himself in quite a bit of trouble after a stunt gone wrong. He was arrested for allegedly turning a rented U-Haul truck into a makeshift prop for a sideshow, driving it recklessly through an intersection while filming for social media.
San Diego police shared video evidence that seems to capture the young man, along with a passenger, attempting various stunts in the U-Haul.
This wasn’t his first brush with dangerous driving. Another clip surfaces showing a white sedan speeding dangerously between lanes on the highway, weaving close to other cars.
It turns out this wasn’t just a one-off incident. According to police, he frequently uploaded videos of his reckless driving antics around San Diego.
During their investigation, officers apprehended him on Saturday for pulling the stunt with the rented truck, which was initially hired for just $19. However, this joyride led to a staggering $5,153 in damages for roadside repairs.
He’s now facing multiple charges, including criminal damage to property and speeding, having been booked at the San Diego County Central Jail. But it appears his legal issues might be far from over.
Authorities have connected him to several earlier incidents of similar reckless behavior, which are still under investigation. So, more charges could be on the horizon.
Reactions to his stunt vary, with some commenters on social media questioning the costs involved. One person joked about whether pressure washing the road for just 15 minutes could really cost that much. Another quipped about the bizarre sponsorships appearing on the side of a vehicle that isn’t even a race car.
