A 17-year-old boy was killed and another dozen killed Thursday night in a brutal stabbing in Lower Manhattan after the victims told their attackers they “didn't speak English,” police and sources said. A teenage boy was injured.
The two teens were outside 17 John Street in the Financial District around 7:39 p.m. when three suspects approached them, NYPD and officials said.
Officials said the trio asked the teens if they spoke English, and when the victims answered, “No,” the suspects began attacking them.
Yeremi Corino, 17, was stabbed in the chest and an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm with a knife.
Both victims were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where Corino succumbed to his injuries, police said. The other victim is in stable condition.
According to police sources, the two people were stabbed with knives.
No arrests have been made.
Police said Corino's address was listed as the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan, where immigrants stay.
Witnesses were horrified by the brutal murder on the sidewalk outside popular ramen restaurant Kuu.
“I was coming home from class and I saw a bunch of people screaming. I looked up and saw this kid holding his neck and it looked like his friend was screaming,” said a witness who requested anonymity. one person told the Post.
“There was a lot of blood coming out of his mouth, and probably from his neck. I've never seen so much blood in my life. The kid fell down. He got up again. He looked like he was about to fall. He looked like he was out of a horror movie.
Javier Pau was enjoying spicy pork ramen inside the restaurant when he looked up and saw one of the teenage victims covered in blood and two others running away with jackets on. Ta.
He said the sting left him with stomach pain.
“I felt dizzy. I went to the bathroom,” Poe told the Post.
“I've never seen that before. It was horrible. I lost my appetite.”
Police currently have the area cordoned off as investigators investigate the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing.
