A 15-year-old boy has died from his injuries after a boating accident in St. Petersburg, Florida, Sunday afternoon, according to FOX 13.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), investigators were called to reports of a boating accident in St. Petersburg around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
FWC told FOX 13 that 15-year-olds Colin Moorefield and Christian Tarakan were both in an 18-foot boat when the boat hit the dock.
Investigation revealed that the two boys were thrown overboard when the boat collided with them.

Officials told Fox 13 that the boat operator, Tarakan, was rescued from the water.
Mr. Moorefield was found by a good Samaritan and a St. Petersburg police officer, who located him after a brief search of the area.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG), St. Petersburg Police Department, St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), and FWC all responded to the scene and assisted in search and recovery efforts.
The teens were taken to a local hospital, authorities said. Moorefield died from his injuries. Tarakan suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

“We would like to express our condolences to the Moorefield family and ask the public to give the family space during this difficult time,” Southwest Region Commander Maj. Evan Laskowski said in a statement to FOX 13. Ta. “You just begin to imagine the pain they’re going through right now. We want them to know we’re thinking and praying for them during this time.”

FWC is leading an active investigation with assistance from the St. Petersburg Police Department.
