Teen suspect's unsettling comments on hit-and-run deaths of NJ girls in troubling livestream: 'There's more to the story'

A teenager has been accused of deliberately hitting two 17-year-old girls from New Jersey, and he shared a troubling live stream video about the crash just a day before he was arrested.

In the video, the young man mentioned that several neighbors had labeled him as a murderer, expressing sorrow for the girls lost in the incident involving Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas.

He also claimed that his family faced threats from the community regarding the situation, asserting that he had been bullied by what he called “false allegations” in the past.

“This situation is really serious, and I’m not sure if I should even talk about it… but I trust everything will be handled,” he said during his stream.

“There’s definitely more to this story, but I’m not really in a position to discuss it right now.”

According to reports, Battilolo is accused of striking the two girls while they were on an e-bike around 5:30 PM before fleeing the scene in a black jeep.

Authorities took him into custody a few hours post-crash, although he was briefly released before being charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Wednesday.

Battilolo, who has a YouTube channel featuring video games and baseball commentary, is facing trial as a minor.

The 15-year-old could potentially be charged as an adult in relation to the murder, with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office stating they’re “considering all legal avenues.”

Friends and family have claimed the suspect had been stalking the girls for a while before the tragic event.

The victims’ family suggested that the crash was premeditated, referring to him as a “ coward.”

“It’s vital to reveal the truth; this wasn’t just an e-bike accident or a hit and run,” the family remarked.

“The coward who plotted this attack on Maria for months has committed a horrific act that took her life and Isabella’s too.”

In contrast, Battilolo portrayed himself as an innocent party needing sympathy.

“I’m just a good kid with a supportive family,” he pleaded. “These claims have devastated everything for me.”

It remains uncertain if he ever addressed the accusations regarding the hit-and-run or stalking.

He has acknowledged that perhaps remaining silent might have been wiser.

“I don’t even know if I should be streaming this now,” he reflected.

He emphasized that New Jersey ought to provide better mental health resources but hesitated to directly acknowledge any mental health struggles.

“We really need to address mental health issues,” he stated. “I’ve faced bullying and been wrongly accused.”
