Teenager from Britain Missing in Thailand Arrested in Georgia for Drug Offenses

Teenager Arrested in Georgia After Disappearing in Thailand

Bella May Curry, an 18-year-old from the UK, has been taken into custody in Georgia. Her arrest comes after she was reported missing in Pattaya, Thailand.

Curry faces multiple charges related to drug offenses, specifically for the possession of marijuana.

According to police from Cleveland, she was last seen in Thailand. On Tuesday, authorities in Georgia informed local police that she was in custody under suspicion of a drug crime.

Reports indicate that she is charged with the illegal purchase, possession, and large-scale importation of drugs, which includes marijuana. Should she be convicted, she could potentially face a prison sentence of up to 20 years, or even life.

In a more detailed account, she has been accused of acquiring and storing significant quantities of drugs as well as the illegal importation of these substances into Georgia.

Local media reports state that Curry was arrested at Tbilisi Airport, where authorities discovered 34 sealed packages of marijuana along with 20 packages of hashish. During her initial court appearance, she opted to remain silent and was subsequently placed in a pre-trial detention facility for women in Rastabi, as indicated by her lawyer.

On a familial note, Bella is the great-granddaughter of former Labour MP John Cook, who represented Stockton North for 27 years and served as vice-speaker of the House. John Cook passed away from lung cancer in January 2012 at the age of 76.

Recently completing a nursing course at Middlesbrough University, Bella had been traveling through the Philippines before heading to Thailand. She shared her experiences, including videos of snorkeling and exploring caves, on social media. Her last post was on May 9, just a day before her disappearance was reported.
