Teen Charged with Mother’s Murder in Oklahoma

A 16-year-old boy is facing murder charges after allegedly killing his mother, leaving her severely disfigured from multiple hammer blows, according to court documents.

Jordan Weems is accused of ambushing his foster mother, Spring Weems, 49, in their home in Edmond, an Oklahoma City suburb. Prosecutors claim he confessed to the crime, admitting to hitting her more than a dozen times after she fell.

Spring’s body was discovered in a trash can on January 28. It’s reported that Weems put her in the can and rolled it to the curb.

This tragic incident comes five years after Weems expressed his love for Spring in numerous notes, one of which read, “Dear Mom, I love you because you are smart, kind, and so loving.”

Prosecutors describe the act as a premeditated attack, noting that Weems had previously made threats against Spring. “The facts and evidence show that this was not a crime of passion or snap judgment,” they stated.

Further details from court documents indicate that the victim suffered significant injuries—her face and head were left deformed from blunt force trauma.

Allegedly, Weems attacked Spring while she was in the kitchen. He is also charged with attempting to fabricate evidence and misleading family members about her whereabouts.

The day before her body was found, he allegedly told one of her siblings that Spring was assisting in the birth of another sibling, trying to explain her absence.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Weems could face a life sentence in prison.
