Kickers these days are surprisingly good, even at the college level.
As NFL kickers continue to put on a show with near-automatic plays regardless of distance, it's clear that the future of kicking could be in even better hands.
Temple University kicker Maddux Trujillo made history on Saturday when he comfortably booted a 64-yard field goal.

Trujillo's field goal is the eighth-longest in NCAA history, but the second-longest in modern FBS history. Kickers were allowed to use a tee until 1989, according to Yahoo Sports. The longest kick was a 69-yarder in 1976.
Former NFL kicker Martin Gramatica accomplished the feat at Kansas State in 1998 and still holds the one-yard record.
Trujillo's kick was the longest successful field goal since 2008 and the longest in Lincoln Financial Field history, surpassing Jake Elliott's 61-yard kick in 2017 to help the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants as time expired.
The field goal changed the course of the game, cutting the Owls' lead against Utah State to 21-17 by halftime.

Temple scored 21 points in the second half to take a 38-21 lead.
Utah State tried to pull a comeback late in the fourth quarter with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, but Temple answered with a touchdown about a minute later to ensure the comeback wasn't wasted. Temple ultimately won 49-25 to earn their first win of the season.
