Tennessee agencies team up to rescue injured dog from ravine: video

A dog that went missing in Tennessee was found injured in a ravine on Wednesday and will be reunited with its family.

Tennessee Department of Transportation workers were removing a tree from the 2400 block of State Route 48 in Dickson when they “heard noise coming from a nearby stream,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

When workers went to check on the noise, they found an injured dog stuck in the ravine and called for help from Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers on nearby traffic duty.

TDOT crews, police officers, Dixon Power utility workers and civilians worked together to rescue the pup.

They built a makeshift stretcher to pull him safely out of the ravine and took him to the Dickson County Humane Society (HSDC) to be treated for his injuries.

“We have heard that the dog is receiving treatment and we are hopeful for a speedy recovery,” TDOT said on Facebook. “We are grateful to our employees who were willing to respond to our calls for help.”

The Tennessee Highway Patrol on Wednesday posted body camera video of the dog's rescue, which they named “Trooper,” to Facebook and asked for help finding the dog's family.
