A Tennessee medical student was shot and killed by his ex-girlfriend during a cancer charity walk over the weekend, police said.
According to an arrest affidavit, shortly after noon Saturday, officers arrived at the Shelby Farms Visitor Center in Memphis and found Ellie Claire Young, 22, shot and lying on the ground near her Jeep Wrangler. year old) was discovered.

Family members told police Young had recently broken up with Hopper, 26.
The shooting occurred in the visitor center parking lot while a crowd was gathering in the park for the American Cancer Society's “Advances Against Breast Cancer” event. FOX13 reported.
A witness took a photo of a Honda parked behind Young's Jeep during the shooting.
Police issued a BOLO alert to surrounding agencies for the white Honda CRV. The car was spotted and tracked by officers before Hopper crashed into the Honda and was taken into custody.
According to Fox 13, Hopper was examined by medical staff at the emergency room. Hopper was charged with first-degree murder.

Hopper also faces charges in Tipton County, according to Fox 13. He is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, felony evasion, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, resisting arrest and multiple traffic violations.
