A Tennessee teacher was found in a self-harm gunshot in a classroom at Mumford High School Thursday morning, shocking a small community.
Samuel Colin Day's body was found around 6am. It was long before the students arrived at class.
The Mumford Police Department responded to a “emergency” at the school and found the day he died, 60 days.
Authorities said on the day of the statement that he was killed in a self-harmed gunshot wound.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends, students and faculty members affected by this heartbreaking event,” police said in a statement.
“We ask that our community respect the privacy of our families during these difficult times,” the statement added.
Classes were cancelled Thursday to investigate police time.
Day was the school's special education director.

He lived in Atka with his wife and son.
It was unclear whether the police found the suicide notes.
