A couple considered to be tennis’ favorite couple has announced their split.
On Sunday morning, Paula Badosa confirmed in an Instagram post that she had broken up with Stefanos Tsitsipas, with whom she had been together for about a year, adding that the two supported each other in their respective careers and confirmed their relationship on their couple’s Instagram account. He was sharing his fun updates.
The popular accounts, which had more than 87,000 followers, have since been deleted, and photos of the couple remain on their respective accounts.
in her instagram story26-year-old Badosa said, “After careful consideration and many precious moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to part ways amicably. We are on a journey full of love and learning. However, we have now chosen to go our separate ways as friends with great respect for each other.
“We are grateful for the support of our friends, family, and everyone who has been a part of our story. As we move into this new chapter of our lives, we wish each other the best in all our efforts. We continue to pray for you. We ask for your privacy during this time and thank you for your understanding.”
In the early stages of their relationship, Badosa endured setbacks due to injuries, most notably a stress fracture in her back after last year’s Wimbledon.
The Spaniard, who was once ranked as high as No. 2, missed three of the four major tournaments in 2023, but gained a foothold by reaching the third round of the 2024 Australian Open.
She most recently lost in the first round of the Madrid Open to qualifier Jessica Buzas Maneiro.
Tsitsipas, 25, who is currently seventh in the rankings, recently lost in the second round of the Madrid Open, but reached the final at Barcelona, where he lost to Denmark’s Casper Ruud.
At this year’s Australian Open, she lost to American Taylor Fritz in the round of 16.
