Terence Crawford slams ‘trash’ Mike Tyson over Jake Paul fight

Terrence Crawford didn't mince words.

The WBA super welterweight champion, considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, criticized Mike Tyson during his fight with Jake Paul on Friday night at AT&T Stadium.

Paul, 27, a YouTuber turned boxer, defeated Tyson, now 58, by unanimous decision in a highly anticipated bout streamed on Netflix.

“I love Mike Tyson, but they overrate him too much” Crawford I wrote to X. “He looked like trash. The whole fight was crazy, training that long and only throwing 97 punches. I'm just glad he didn't get hurt on the outside. .”

Crawford's sentiments echoed those of the majority of viewers regarding the game.

Tyson hadn't fought an officially sanctioned professional bout in 19 years, so there was great interest in seeing what Tyson would look like inside the ring at this age.

However, in the match he looked his age and was not competitive against Paul.

Paul threw 278 punches and landed 78 of them, while Tyson threw 97 punches and landed only 18.

Paul admitted after the fight that he felt better knowing Tyson wasn't a threat and stopped trying to get a knockout.

By the end of the match, fans booed both fighters for the lack of action.

The fight also had unique rules, with fewer and shorter rounds and both fighters wearing larger gloves to reduce the impact on their punches.

Still, the fight was a huge box office success.

Netflix had 60 million users watching the game, more than $17.8 million in gates (money earned from ticket sales), and 72,300 fans packed into the home of the NFL, the largest non-Las Vegas event in U.S. history. He announced that he had passed the boxing gate. Dallas Cowboys.

Crawford, who has a perfect record of 41-0, believes he can surpass that.
