Terrance Gore's wife shares details about the 'routine procedure' that resulted in his death.

Terrance Gore, a former MLB player known for his speed, passed away in early February due to complications from an appendectomy, as confirmed by his wife, Britney.

In a touching social media message shared shortly after his death, Britney described the procedure as a “simple surgery” that took a tragic turn. She noted that Gore’s condition seemed to improve initially, but then worsened unexpectedly.

In a recent interview, she revealed that he had emergency surgery to remove his appendix and seemed to recover well. Unfortunately, complications arose, likely due to anesthesia, leading to cardiac arrest.

The sudden loss of Gore has left his family and the baseball community in shock.

He is survived by his wife and three children. In her heartfelt post, Britney expressed, “Our hearts are broken and so are my children. Our whole family was missing. It was really unexpected.”

Gore, a fan favorite over his eight seasons in MLB, is fondly remembered for his incredible speed and contributions to three World Series-winning teams.

A native of Macon, Georgia, he made his major league debut with the Kansas City Royals in 2014, becoming a key base-running specialist for their teams that won back-to-back American League pennants.

Throughout his career, he demonstrated remarkable prowess on the field, particularly noted for his ability to change the dynamics of a game with his speed. Former Royals general manager Dayton Moore reflected on Gore’s influence, stating, “He brought a high level of excitement and anticipation to the game. He inspired athletes across the country.”

Gore had four base hits over the past two postseasons, including during the Royals’ World Series championship in 2015.

His success carried on as he later won titles with the Dodgers in 2020 and the Braves in 2021, despite limited at-bats overall. During his MLB journey, he recorded 43 stolen bases in 52 attempts, showcasing his exceptional speed.

He finished his final season with the Mets in 2022, wrapping up his career with three steals and a hit in just ten games.

A viewing will take place next Friday at the Richard R. Robinson Funeral Home Eastside Chapel in Macon, followed by a celebration of life on Saturday at the Jones County High School gymnasium in Gray, Georgia.
