‘Terrible Bind:’ Google Desperate to Fix Its Insanely Woke Gemini AI

Google is in a “terrible bind” after its AI chatbot Gemini sparks controversy over its ability to generate images that attempt to erase white people from history. Facing immense backlash and ridicule from all corners of the internet, the Masters of the Universe are desperate to fix a system that one AI expert derisively dubbed a “probabilistic parrot.” We are working on this.

Breitbart News previously reported that Google’s market value plummeted by $90 billion amid controversy over its new generative AI service Gemini. This hyper-woke AI quickly became famous for erasing white people from history and was widely ridiculed not only for its wildly inaccurate images, but also for its defense of pedophilia and Joseph Stalin.

Many media outlets were quick to point out that Gemini appears to be intentionally biased against white people, citing ahistorical images as evidence. Elon Musk, who recently acquired Twitter, also addressed the issue, and Gemini product leader Jack Kracik, who has a history of tweeting his anger at “white privilege” and crying after voting for Joe Biden, said: He singled out Google’s leaders like him. In a 2018 post, Krawczyk said: “Racism here is the first value that the people try to protect above all else…”

Well, Bloomberg report Officials say Google is desperately implementing technical fixes to Gemini to reduce racial and gender bias in its output, but there are concerns about how the image generator can malfunction in certain situations. It is said that it was not possible to fully predict what would happen. The company took immediate action and suspended the feature on February 23rd, pending system changes.

Google uses an approach called prompt engineering to steer its AI systems away from “problematic” responses. This includes changing the wording of prompts entered into the model without notifying the user, such as adding different race or gender modifiers.

Laura Edelson, an assistant professor at Northeastern University who studies AI systems, commented: The industry desperately needs to portray AI as magic rather than a probabilistic parrot. But parrots are what they have. ”

Some argue that AI image generation has inherent limitations when it comes to accurately portraying history. Systems are trained on biased web data, so companies try to manipulate the output to counter stereotypes, but incomplete training data means there are no safeguards in place. Regardless, it means that the underlying problem remains. This clearly backfired. Gemini AI depicts Viking warriors as black and Hispanic to avoid the Norse Viking “stereotype.”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai acknowledged in an internal memo to employees that images and text generated by the company’s Gemini AI were “offensive to users and exhibit bias.” . He declared that this was “totally unacceptable” and that Google was “wrong.”

Some worry that Google, now on the defensive, may choose to reduce its protections for AI, which could ultimately be harmful. For now, the company says it hopes to resume image functionality in the coming weeks after making improvements.
