Terrion Arnold Signs with Seattle Seahawks
Former first-round draft choice, Terrion Arnold, is officially off the free agent market.
Recent reports indicate that Arnold has finalized an agreement with the Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champions, marking a significant step in his career.
Arnold was originally picked by the Detroit Lions in 2024 but was released in June following his arrest in February on serious felony charges related to robbery and kidnapping in Tampa, Florida.
During his visit to potential teams this week, he explored options with the Seahawks, along with the Houston Texans, New York Giants, and New Orleans Saints. Ultimately, it seems he’s keen to join a Seahawks defense that already appears formidable on paper. Interestingly, general manager John Schneider was seen discussing Arnold’s potential signing during HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald praised Arnold’s efforts during his tryout, noting it was a “great visit.” McDonald acknowledged that there are ongoing concerns but expressed optimism about the interaction. “I enjoyed meeting him, and he seemed to enjoy his time here too. So, we’ll see where things go from here,” he commented.
Arnold is facing eight felony charges for allegedly orchestrating the assault and kidnapping of three men back in February. The prosecution claims he was involved in a violent incident where the men were pistol-whipped after being accused of stealing $100,000 worth of cash and luxury items. A judge in Hillsborough County set bail for Arnold at $1 million and labeled him a principal conspirator in the case.
However, Arnold’s attorney has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that there is “no reliable evidence” supporting the claims. Back in March, Lions head coach Dan Campbell indicated that the team had no reason to suspect Arnold’s involvement based on the information they had at the time.
As teams consider adding Arnold to their rosters, it’s crucial they thoroughly investigate his situation, especially since no trial date has been established and the charges could carry severe consequences. The NFL will also need to determine whether Arnold will be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list moving forward.
It looks like if a team is signing Arnold now, they believe he could be cleared to play this season; that’s a crucial factor for any team ready to welcome him.
Last season, Arnold was on track to be a starting cornerback for the Lions, and his release could significantly impact the team’s depth. In his career so far, he notched his first interception during Week 9 against the Vikings, although his time on the field was limited due to a shoulder injury requiring surgery.
In his rookie season, Arnold participated in all 16 games, achieving 10 passes defensed and 60 tackles in total.
