ABC News Parts Ways with Terry Moran

On Tuesday, ABC News announced that they have let correspondent Terry Moran go. This decision followed his comments on Sunday’s X-Post, where he described White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller as a “world-class hater,” as reported by CNN’s Brian Stelter.

An ABC spokesperson said, “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran, and based on his recent posts—this constituted a clear violation of ABC News Policy—we have made the decision not to update.”

According to Stelter, the spokesperson mentioned that the organization holds all its reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness, and professionalism. Moran had been suspended just a few hours earlier after sharing lengthy, critical comments about Miller on the platform.

In a now-deleted tweet, Moran expressed, “What’s not about Stephen Miller? He’s the brain behind Trumpism.” He further remarked, “But that’s not funny about Miller. It’s not the brain, it’s bile.” He ultimately declared, “Miller is a man blessed with the ability to hate. He is a world-class hater.”

J.D. Vance, the Vice President, criticized Moran’s tweet, calling it a “stigma” and suggested that ABC should issue an apology.

ABC’s suspension of Moran came shortly after White House press chief Caroline Leavitt echoed Vance’s call for an apology and urged ABC to take action. Leavitt tweeted, “We contacted ABC,” emphasizing the need to address Moran’s comments.

On the same day, Miller reacted to Moran’s remarks, suggesting that they revealed a broader issue within corporate news. He tweeted, “The most important facts about Terry’s full public meltdown are those that showcase American corporate news outlets.” Miller argued that many journalists maintain a facade while harboring extreme views, stating, “Terry took off his mask.”
